Inspied by the diverse jewellery used by different ethnic groups in Nepal, India and Tibet, Kaya has tried to make a collection which varys from ethnic to modern, using old beads, gold, pendents, earrings and other interesting pieces such as gaos (portable charm boxes) when we find them and mixing them with different beads. Alternatively, starting afresh with the beads available in the markets of Kathmandu, Delhi, Lhasa and sometimes Rangoon and Bangkok.

We have a preference for gold over silver, even if it makes each piece more expensive, it certainly adds to the intrinsic value as well, we believe, as the estetic value.

Each piece is basically unique and obviously the jewelry made from new beads is easier to replicate, but even so, beads of the same shape, size, dimension, hue and colour have to be found and no two pieces will be exactly the same. We consider this an advantage, rather than a problem.
